The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has launched the Erasmus Generation in Action (EGiA), a new project co-funded by the European Parliament. EGiA aims to mobilise young Europeans by providing international opportunities and increasing awareness of EU citizenship opportunities and mobility-related citizen's rights. The project will take place in 18 Member States and will include 163 activities, 80 of which will be published at together.eu. With an expected 50 participants per activity, EGiA is set to engage a significant number of young Europeans in discussions about their role as active citizens.

ESN aims to attract 5000 new sign-ups at together.eu and reach 2 million people through its outreach activities. The project will train 170 change-makers in capacity-building activities who will go on to organize 163 activities, making a significant impact on active citizenship among European youth. The project will be led by ESN International in cooperation with ESN National Organisations from several European countries, including both EU and non-EU countries. The project is expected to last 19 months until summer 2024. EGiA is a significant step forward in ESN's mission to promote active citizenship among European youth, and we are excited to see the impact it will have.

How to organise a mobility promotion event

From a technical point of view, events are also a logistical process. When you are willing to organise an event, as experienced as you might be, you still need to plan ahead and think about all the resources that you will need to achieve your goal. You will also consider more details such as the objective of your event, the target group, and the difficulties that you may face. This is why we created this resource acting like a menu filled with juicy events options and to easily support you in choosing the right type of event for you.

Volunteering promotion guidelines

We are working towards a better understanding of the needs of youth when it comes to accessing EU opportunities and to empower youth to become changemakers while fostering active citizenship, and volunteering plays a key role in this. For this reason, we have decided to improve these volunteering guidelines initially produced within the SocialErasmus+ project which focused on promoting volunteering in schools. This version is broader in scope and can be used to promote volunteering at all levels.

EGiA focus groups findings: barriers to mobility and EU opportunities

It has been several months since we introduced the Focus Groups under the Erasmus Generation in Action (EGiA) project led by the Erasmus Student Network and supported by the European Parliament. Our mission has been to shed light on the barriers faced by young individuals when engaging in European Union (EU) opportunities, including mobilities, and to address the challenges they encounter while accessing their rights. Now, after successfully conducting the focus groups, it is time to showcase the trends and findings that have emerged from our extensive efforts.

Project donor: European Parliament

The European Parliament is a crucial institution for political discourse and decision-making at the EU level. It consists of Members of Parliament who are elected by voters in all EU Member States to represent citizens' interests in the law-making process and ensure the democratic functioning of other EU institutions. As a co-legislator, the Parliament shares power with the Council to adopt and modify legislative proposals and decides on the EU budget. It supervises the work of the Commission and cooperates with national parliaments. The Parliament advocates for democracy, freedom of speech, and fair elections worldwide. Over time, it has gained substantial legislative and budgetary powers, allowing it to shape the European project's direction while promoting human rights globally.
